A (crochet) stitch in time........

One of my new years resolutions was to learn how to crochet...... A few nights ago I decided to start knitting for the first time in about 25 years. The knitting is ok but not one to be satisfied with the multitude of things I already have on the go, I had to get my head around this crochet lark. With the help of YouTube tutorials and a few balls of wool I found around the house, I have spent the last few hours teaching myself how to crochet :-) its a LOT harder than it looks and my eyes are starting to go blurry, early onset arthritis is setting in and my arms are aching from holding them in one position but chain stitch, slip stitch, single and double stitch have been mastered (sort of...) and even if I couldn't crochet in public (would love to join a knitting/crochet group) then at least I can nod knowingly when anyone mentions how they are having trouble with their half double crochet stitch :-D

Not sure how long my new found enthusiasm will hold out but my aim is to make one of the flowers on Attic24 blog and then I will be happy and move onto the next thing on my list :-)

Any hints and tips please send my way!!!

I do keep seeing all the wonderful crochet on everyone's blogs and would love to give it a try.

I used to knit a lot when I was little with my nan but haven't for years.

Oh you brave woman!!! Also one of my new year resolutions but I have not ventured down that slippery slope yet.I'm sure you will master it in no time.Everyone makes it look sooooo easy and fast.My fantasy is that by the end of this year I will have made a granny squares blanket.Lets wait and see : )Gotta love you tube for tutorials though. The knitting ones are terrific too.xxxx

Let me know how you get on! I feel a bit useless as everyone else can knit and crochet. The only thing I ever knitted was at Brownie camp and it was a rather fetching tie for my dad, funnily enough he n ever wore it!! Claire xx

Hey, well done you - sounds like you are doing a great job with the crochet. Lucy's blog is just so inspirational isn't it ?

No clue how to do it here, so no tips -instead I shall be watching and learning, and hopefully following your lead in starting to try soon.

Good luck with the flower x x

A brilliant crochet book (with a fab and funny title) is Happy Hooker! I find I crochet much faster than knitting, it takes a while to learn, but once you get the hang of the tension, you will always remeber how to crochet - it's a bit like riding a bike. It's so good of you to learn a new craft like that! Can't wait to see the flowers.

Yay! Good for you!

To be honest I think there's no substitute for just finding a project you love and jumping in ;-)

Well done Lesley, good for you! Once you've mastered that you really should have a go at the bunting. Honestly I wouldn't know where to start with knitting and crochet!

PS also if you can hang wallpaper you are a genius... you don't even want to know what happened when I tried to put a border up

Hello Lesley

Thanks for popping by. I love crochet. I just need to get my teeth in to a great project. I am in to deconstructing clothes but have just added some crochet to a new plain yukky sainsburys cardigan. I will blog it soon. I think it really improves clothes. I would love to do some bunting with flowers = probably bright pink!!!!

Have a lovely Friday!
