I love haberdashery items and almost have a problem with acquiring more and more on a constant basis! When it takes me 5 minutes just to locate a bit of ribbon I wanted for a project I decided enough is enough and that the big sort out is needed sooner rather than later :-) I really struggle with that first cut into a lovely piece of fabric or find myself picking up ribbons and buttons and just appreciating them but never getting much further than that!
As today is my first full day at home with no children and no real plans as it snowed again last night (oh I am so over snow now can we move on please?) I have started "haberdashery control centre" and I may even make something today as well as trying to organise myself............. or maybe I will just eat biscuits and cram it all back in my special cupboard at the end of the day :-D
just adding this picture - I made this a few days ago when I first started my crochet hobby!! the lovely PetticoatLane had included this fabric in my Christmas swap parcel and I had been to nervous to use it but just did it and was quite pleased with the result :-) The very talented Henhouse makes a professional version of hearts amongst other fab things if you feel like treating yourself:-)

You sound like me. I sometimes just get my fabric drawer and bits and bobs drawer out, sit on the floor in the spare bedroom, get it all out, look at it, make plans for it, then out it all back in again. xxxx
I agree, I'm over the snow too, now it's just icy and a pain. To top it all, it's raining here today and really gloomy. Heavy snow is forecast for Monday so I'm going to do my Ocado order and just hibernate! Happy creating...

I couldn't get the train to work this morning because of the damned snow. Pah!
I really need to sort out my craft bits and bobs, I moved a basket yesterday and piles of ribbon and fabric fell on my head. Good luck with haberdashery control.
It doesn't seem to matter what I attempt to do at the moment - I always seem to go for the "eat biscuits and cram it all back in the cupboard" option!! I think I'm just lazy! Oh, and I'm sooooo sick of the snow now - not fun any more (actually ... was it ever fun?!).

Gorgeous heart, well done you and your little flower on it looks adorable :)
I now have a little button maker thingy we have been talking of, though not sure if i have bought the right shells, they are silvery and they only came in fours, they were quite exspensive I thought so only have eight to play with :)

Lesley your hearts look just as beautiful as Hens, well done! I would love to have a rummage in your crafty cupboard - I bet its full of pretties! XX
Wow, that is good im very impressed you are very good, i am also having a crafty day hehe!! I am making you a present but we will see if it turns out ok to if you ever get it lol!!!
Can i have half a dozen of those hearts please hehehe!!!! xxx
That heart is gorgeous! I hate that first cut too, I have a FQ of CK Petals that has been waiting to be made into something for ages but I just can't do it! Took me months to cut into my FQ of my absolutely favourite LA vintage fabric too but I finally bit the bullet with the mini bunting on the grounds that I'd see it every day instead of it being in a drawer!
I think if I had your amount of lovely haberdashery items I would just want to play with them too :)

Yes Dunelm, can you buy in larger quantities but for not much money :)
I have same problem as you I just love looking at all my pretties, so does that mean I am normal or we are both sad?????????

Oh, I wish that I was having a crafty day!! I am busy painting furniture to take to our new house, I havent even started packing yet!! Have a good day!! Andrea x
Its not a the red LA cupboard you need, its a shop.....then you could play all day.....I could be your assistant and makes cups of tea!
Now then thats a plan!xxxx
I love those baskets, please tell me where you got them from!
and the heart is lovely, I am starting to get a bit more productive too! Organised.... never gonna happen.... complete pipe dream!

I'm the same... I have fabric from about 10 years ago that I can't bring myself to cut.... aren't we silly!!! :)
I had a sort out in my craft room, the other day..I seem to have made an even bigger mess;-)
Nothing better than rumming about through all the bits and pieces!
Hiya Lesley, I have a little request for you on my blog if you fancy taking part in a bit of show n tell! X
Oh I'm glad you want to play too! Very coincidental, but it must mean we both have fantastic taste! X
I spend way too much time looking at fabric and then putting it back in the cupboard because I can't bear to cut into it and run the risk of ruining it! I usually pick up the knitting again instead. I love the heart.
Love the little heart! Pretty!
thank you for leaving a comment on my blog, thats a great tip putting them in the room one by one I'm going to try that. Just read your blog and noticed you have the same note book as me......they're great aren't they :) x
I buy lovely things, inspired to do something with them, but never quite get there, but peeking at them, gives me sooo much pleasure! I think its a grown up version of my mums button box - I used to spend hours looking at them, yet I cannot ever remember her doing any thing with them..Mum's now made one for my little miss..
Love your blog!

& both our names begin with 'L'! - I'm off to find out how to crochet on you tube...& i thought you tube was just for working out how to transform those pesky transformers my little man likes so much...
Re yellowing gloss paint - have you tried the Dulux water based satin wood? Have used it for years with no problems, & it doesn't seem to yellow, unlike the oil based ones. Dries quick, which is useful if you have kids, cats & husbands.....

Hi Lesley - Think my husband would rather say move over Lydia, & I'll have Nigella!! My baby Kenwood came in at just under £130, its got a blender & food processor that attach on the top....& it won a 'red spot' design award for inovation (apparently thats a good thing!) I have 2 little ones, an 8 yr old boy (not so little in size! - gosh how they grow),& 5yr old girl - who can be very bossy... Love them dearly, but really would like to be able to spend the time, when not at work, enjoying them, not playing united nation peacekeeping task force.I swear that snow is just coming down to traumatise me (paranoia now settling in...!) Glad someone else appreciates the pots - G just doesn't quite get it! love Lydia xx
