Why this picture? Baking is the only guaranteed thing to stop bored children in their tracks and get them to work together in harmony so we spend a lot of time doing it!
It's the first day of the Easter holidays for us so lots of chocolate eating to be done in secret when the children are in bed (well, they get way too many Easter eggs so will hardly miss one will they ? ;-))
This morning started with me up early and to the supermarket to buy Madagascar 2 on DVD which came out today - I seem to have made this a habit as Feb half term found me buying High School Musical 3 at 8am but it's a couple of hours peace so worth it. If you have never seen Madagascar you really must watch it and look out for any King Julian parts as he amuses me no end even if it is a children's film!!
We had some "craft and create" moments at the weekend and I finally had a go at this which I spotted on the Chez Larsson blog many many months ago!
It took me quite a while and I was a bit crossed eyed by the end of it but Mia likes it.

I also did a quick practice for a Union flag cushion (this is just a layout practice so of course will be a lot neater, a bit bigger and with the correct cotton! does anyone else find it a complete pain to change the bobbin? I've found myself avoiding using fabric if I can't use the cream cotton I already have threaded....

Also a little blue thrifted jug to join my collection.

Random.org very kindly provided me with 2 numbers to be sent one of my VERY handmade hearts. (disclaimer: these hearts were made to the best of my ability... unfortunately that ability isn't the best ;-) )
Surfer Rosa Please email me your address (via my profile "contact me") and the Bibi heart will be on it's way to you very soon.
Carol@Katherines Dream - The paisley one is yours if you could also send me your address :-)
The children are going for a sleepover at grandparents today so need to get packed and organised so wishing you all a lovely Easter and hope the Easter bunny brings you lots of yummy chocolate :-)

Hi Lesley, lovely pictures great crafting as well!!
I am totally with you on the secret eating of chocolate front it's obscene the amount they receive though fortunately for my children they have a 'chocoholic' mother how convenient is that!!
Enjoy the Easter half term,
take care,
Nina x
You deserve the chocolate by the sounds of what you've done so far today!
Have a great Easter.

Lucky you with the sleepover - how I wish for one of those! We are also very naughty and "help" Harry with the vast mountain of chocolate he gets at Easter. I'm preparing for the onslaught when his nanny comes tomorrow. Must go out and get Madagascar 2. Harry loves both the Madagascar films. King Julian is Andy's fave. I love Alex the Lion! Well, I've made bread and am now going out to plant seeds. It's apparently going to rain the next few days so I must do my outdoorsy stuff today. I also have some 50p steps to sand and paint but I'm sort of putting those off, I detest sanding. Of course, come Saturday, the weather here can do what it likes, hee hee!
Have a great Easter holiday.

ooh that jug is the same as a green one I got in the CS the other week - only I washed it lifted it out of the dishwasher and knocked it off the worktop!! That was a wasted 50p hehe!! I was very annoyed as it is gorgeous!!
Love the little butterfly picture.
Have a happy easter break - mine has started with hissy fit central (me and ds3!!) - I'm going to get him Madagascar for easter - the big boys always had a new film for easter (started back in the dark vhs days lol!!)it is sooo funny - dh loves the penguins - I like the monkeys!!!

love madagascar - will keep No2 up my sleeve for bribery purposes towards the end on the holidays I think.
Butterfly picture is lovely, and so is the cushion - I love the colours - I really like union jack things in colours other than the traditional.
Have a great easter, hope you get lots of chocolate!
Lucky, lucky me. I'm really pleased to have one the heart - it's perfect for my bedroom which we've just spruced up over the weekend with a lick of paint (and washed the filthy curtains - gosh it's squalid here!!) so the timing is perfect!
I love your butterfly piccy. I'm just trawling back through that blog to find the 'how to' as I'd love to have a go at one.
I know what you mean about the bobbins - in my ideal world I'd have five machines in a row threaded with a different colour in each!!
I love chocolate but, sadly, it gives me terrible headaches ;-(
Good luck with your Union Jack cushion;-)
I've just bought the DVDs of Merlin for my son as a surprise for Easter Sunday....at least I'll get some peace and quiet next week then. Fancy nicking your kids chocolate...I would never do such a thing...at least no-one's caught me yet.
Tracey
Hello. I have been enjoying a good read of your blog for a while now. Really love the butterfly picture. Well done. Kerry x
Glad i'm not the only secret chocolate eater 'hehe'!
Love the butterfly picture, clever you. Don't know if i'd have the patience to do that. May commission you to do one for Jess 'hehe'.
Cushions looking great too, i'm in the process of doing one for Jess but i'm hand sewing. Still not got the machine out yet....I find it a bit scary!
Enjoy Easter break.
((hugs))

Hello secret choccie scoffer!
How you doing?
Love the UJ make...see your better than you give yourself credit for!
AND the hearts are wonderfully made, very neat and just brill!xxx
hahaha Bobbins!!! I've just written about that... I hate changing the bobbin so at the moment I can't make anything that isn't red!!! Liking the cushion cover.
Hope you enjoy the easter holidays :)
Love the butterfly picture you must have so much patience! I totally agree that the amount of chocolate eggs are kids get warrants us having a sneaky bite or two or three etc etc! Lisaxxx
I like the butterfly pic, lovely :) Baking is so good with kids, unfortunately I seem to get force fed by them and I really don't need the calories!

The UJ cushion is going to be beautiful, well done you, and I so want to know how to do the butterfly frame, clever, clever, I bet M loves it :)

ps, Katie and I will be doing a bit of baking soon...you will have to pop over and have a peep at our first attempts at cupcakes! and Thomas The Tank Engine!
You make that union jack cushion cover look so easy! I love the fabrics in the mock-up, yummy!
I'm also coveting those spotty jugs, I love spotty jugs and have to restrain myself when it comes to buying them, cos I just don't have the space for another collection!
Love Vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)
I get my mum too change the bobbin; I really do need to learn how to do it.
Your picture you have done is lovely and your cushion, for somebody that says they are not very good at craft you do a bloody good job. ;0)
Have a fab week secret chocolate eater!!!
Love Lou xxx

We have secret chocolate eaters in our household too....strange that :) yum, I love choc sooooo much and so does Steve!!
I love all your jugs, you can never have to many diffrent shapes and sizes :)
Have a fun Easter to you and your lovely family!!

ps.. enjoy the peace.
I admire your love of baking with the kids. I perhaps did it when they were too small, and got too stressed. I like to do it now if there is just one with me. I suppose sometimes I let myself get beaten up by my unNigella like calmness. I have to reming myself that 3 kids in 4 yrs means it is just a bit chaotic and not for me! I love packing the kids off places but the house seems eerily quiet for a while too.
What a lovely cushion cover and picture. Have been meaning to make one of those pictures for ages!! Have a super Easter. C x
Oh wow, I love the picture and I LOVE the cushion design!
Happy Easter!
We're the same with easter chocolate, they get tonnes but only Anna likes it really, Alex just likes the idea of getting it.
Anna has started the easter hols in time honoured fashion - some sort of virus causing days of headaches and high temps (despite calpol and Nurofen)so the art and baking is on hold, and we are watching films back to back. At least I'm off work! Have a good holiday,
Kim xx
Hi Lesley - Glad you liked your thingy 4 hot chocolate/cofee... Love your crafting, very impressed! Have been & brought Madagascar 2 for the journey home on Saturday - that should keep my two lovelies quiet in the back of the car! Hope the hols are going well.
Hugs

I love, now have to see if anyone has two and three so I can borrow them!! My boys arent interested although I have caught Louie watching snippets of it!!
Have a great weekend.......Claire xxx
