One little project, One Big Mess!

Can anyone explain how I can be so tidy normally but as soon as I sit down to attempt a little sewing project my kitchen looks like a explosion in a fabric factory?

I needed to make a little present for my god-daughters birthday and thought a nice padded fabric initial would be relatively easy to make so started making a J for my Jacob instead as a practice ............ I currently have a laptop & 2 sewing machines on the kitchen table and the floor is covered in thread, stuffing and offcuts of material but I managed it eventually although its very "Shabby Chic" with more emphasis on the Shabby!

It seemed like a good thing to do today as we have been having some very bizarre weather and I am desperately cloud spotting watching for a 5 minute break in the torrential rain followed by sunshine, in which time I can run outside and plant up some hanging baskets..... It's like Challenge Anneka but without the jumpsuit (thank goodness)

Here is my gorgeous lovely beautiful love it to bits new fabric (Amy Butler) but ! I now do not want to cut into it AT ALL so maybe will have to dig a bit deeper into the fabric pile to find something suitably girly ;-)

Just thought I would also show you my new tins from good old Dunelm - how retro are these and a bargain as well!!

Bye for now x

You wouldn't be tempted by a jumpsuit!?! Nah, me neither.

I love that Amy Butler print too. I've also got some, but I'm not too sure what to do with it - yet.

Have a lovely day and hope the showers pass soon,

I hate it too when I get in a mess, but always inevitable when I sew and make stuff....bizarre, especially when I'm not normally like it!

Ohooo your post made me laugh ;)

I am very untidy when I do my making, its like when I do a blog post and want to take some pretty 'Staged' photographs, the whole house is a mess, whilst I find all the pretties, take the photograph and then put all the pretties back.

Gorgeous tins, I shall have to keep my beady eye out, love the fact one is a little girl and one is a little boy :)

Hugs

I always get very messy when making things, and my usual tidiness does not like it! :o)

I love the tins!

Have a great week x

Hi Lesley,
Didn't look too messy to me, just so long as you tidy up after! The hanging initial (that sounds like the title of a spooky film!) looks very cute. I love that Amy Butler fabric. I made the halter neck top (also her pattern) in it but I doubt I could squeeze into it now!
I thought jumpsuits were back in fashion..?! I am finding the rain the perfect excuse to stay glued to my sewing machine whilst the weeds take over.

I think it's a law that you have to make a mess when making stuff. Fact.
Great fabric letter too, very pretty and nice, happy fabric.

Great tins.

We all suffer from that Lesley, I am sure. I currently have laptop on table next to mess left over from dinner, paint brushes in soak, roller and tray, dirty, 3 tins of paint, turps and lots of rag on the counter nect to the sink. A pile of letters still to open from 3 days ago...oh I could go on but I am sure you have enough of my mess. I am relaxing now. And enjoying your lovely creation. I have an empty house at the moment, bliss. i will have a little blitz soon...still thinking what I should tackle first.

Now look here, I've managed to avoid Dunelm for at least 3 weeks but looking at those tins has made me all twitchy, I've got to get there!
Love the initial, what a great idea, and you haven't seen mess until you've seen my sewing room!
